NEW ORLEANS (xulagold.com) — Xavier University of Louisiana men’s basketball got double-doubles from William Loyd and Makye Richard in a 99-75 spanking of longtime rival Dillard in the Crosstown Classic at the Convocation Center Saturday.
The Gold Rush (20-5, 8-1 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference) reached 20 victories for the eighth time in 10 seasons. XULA has won 10 of its last 11 games and 16 of 18.
Loyd had 29 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and three steals. Richard had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Ed Carter scored 16 points.
Shannon Sanford scored 19 points for Dillard (15-11, 5-5).
XULA play host to GCAC and city rival SUNO at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
